The lodge operates on a 4ha piece of land that has been allocated to the Ntonwasi by the traditional authority. The lodge is located next to Welverdiend village that has about 4000 households with whom most of the households live under poverty lines and rely on the grants and are unemployed. The community has high level of youth with whom most have matric and certificates in the hospitality industry, thus, these unemployed persons and youth will be the direct source of human resources for the lodge.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTL) travel and tourism contributed about  R402 billion in 2016 which is about 9.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country and is expected to grow by 2,5% to R412 billion (9.4% of GDF) in 2017. Also the forecast is that it will rise by 4.2% per year to R624 billion by 2017 and that will be 11.5% of the GDP.

Also travel and tourism contributed to employment in the country by creating 1.5 million jobs in 2016 which is 9.8% of the total employment. The forecast is that it will rise by 6.7% in 2017. That would be 1.6 million jobs or 10.2 of the total employment in the country.

Also, travel and tourism attracted capital investment of R68.9 billion in 2016. This is expected to increase by 0.6 in 2017 and by 4% per year over the next 10 years to R102.5 billion in 2017.

Leisure travelling spending (inbound and domestic) generated 66.2% of the direct travel and tourism GDP in 2016. This is R183.9 billion compared with 33.8% for business travel spending (R94.1bn). Domestic travel spending generated 53.9% of direct travel and tourism GDP in 2016 compared with 46.1% for foreign visitor’s’ spending.
